This project involves the Transformation of a 1900’s Farmhouse, which once operated as a guest house for travellers from Sydney who were escaping the city with the new found freedom which the introduction of the Steam Train provided. The new Farmhouse, known as ‘Soul of Gerringong’ aims to continue this tradition.
The new addition references the tectonic and material language of the Original Farmhouse, abstracting some elements and replicating others, in order to tie the new with the old.
The original Farmhouse will become the ‘closed’ sleeping wing, providing 4 private bedrooms and a small library. The new addition will provide the ‘open’ portion of the project, containing generous communal living spaces with a strong visual connection to the landscaped garden.
