This project is located in the Byron Bay Hinterland, NSW. The property is vast acreage, covered with bush. The site chosen for the proposed dwelling is a large natural plateau on the mountain side, overlooking the valley beyond.
Due to the extensive site area, the proposed dwelling could be sited in order to benefit from passive heating and cooling, whilst still taking full advantage of ocean, mountain and valley views.
Two simple rectangular structures are located on the site. This simple configuration creates a number of distinct spaces which can be used at different times of the day and in different weather conditions – providing shielding from the sun, wind and rain. Intimate internal spaces are contrasted by semi internal/external zones, private gardens and vast open valley views.
